Invincible

Dyson examines the polarity of the human condition; on one level we are powerful, invincible and indestructible but on another level we are just a small insignificant speck on the planet. The small scale of the painting reinforces the sense of vulnerability and insignificance whilst the solid compactness of the sphere conveys a sense of impregnability and invincibility.

Dyson sees loss, tragedy and trauma as visceral reminders of our vulnerability and the fragility of life. She finds it remarkable how invincible and fragile we can be simultaneously.
